What are these?

These are a few short videos prepared by the Office of the United States Trustee. They provide some general information about the bankruptcy process. These are very basic and I have included them here for your general information.

This video explains the difference between Chapters 7, 11 and 13. I can help you decide which chapter is right for you. Not mentioned in the video is the possible option of getting rid of your second mortgage in a Chapter 13 case. Ask about this possibility at your first appointment if your first mortgage is higher than the current fair market value of your home.

A "discharge" protects you from your creditors. If your debt is sold to another entity after your discharge I can file an action in the bankruptcy court to protect your rights. The creditor will ultimately pay me to do this for you.

This video covers a number of subjects in a very general manner, from "exemptions" to "honesty". California has very specific statutes concering "exempt" property. I can help you utilize them in a way that best benefits you.

"Honesty" is extremely important in the bankruptcy process. Let me assist you so that you don't unecessarily lose your right to a discharge. Furthermore, you do not want to make any mistakes that cause you to be fined or imprisioned!

This last video is about the importance of preparing your bankruptcy papers accurately and what happens when you go attend hearings. It includes a segment about "reaffirmation hearings." When you come in for your inital consultation I will explain this process to you in further detail.
